DO PUBLIC RELATIONS FOR EVOLUTIONARY REFORMS!
Want to prevent the worst case scenario FUTURE from happening? (that would be you and the family jobless, homeless, foodless, living all together in a refrigerator box/ paper carton, with newspapers for blankets, in an inflationary post apocalypic recessionary world with crippling diseases and there's no med-i-care. ) Spend an hour a day on a MISSION...to do effective P.R. work, for specific issues , books and writers. Do this via radio talk shows, via your own website, blog. Via a CHURCH BASEMENT activism group that gives potluck so lots of folks attend. Do your own book and then its publicity, or write LETTERS to the EDITOR on issues. Or send a PRESS RELEASE to the EDITOR using this list of newspapers. Create public discussion on polarized issues, seeking to tip the balance to the HUMANE, i.e. PROGRESSIVE path which enables equality and banishes suffering, ignorance, disease and a rogue government ignoring ecology, promoting a costly, vagrant health sytem. . Write to inspire 'fight' in other activists who don't KNOW they are activists.. to foment thought in sedentary minds and to do that besides press releases, call reporters, call Talk radio shows, --- At bottom of page, a list of national media. (Please let me know if any emails are outdated).
THE FUN GAMBIT IS TO CALL RIGHT WING TALK SHOWS. Those shock jocks crumble when cold called. They stammer in the face of the truth. THAT WORKS FOR YOU, BIGTIME! Cuz, why preach to the choir? Go for the minds of the nutjobs that vote. Cold call them, get your story on the air, and convert their quislings.
To do that, all you have to manage is --- LIE LIKE A RUG to the SCREENER. You have to ACTUALLY come on like a right winger. You cannot discuss your left wing, liberal agenda then when the SHOCK JOCK comes on, cold cock him.
BELOW another list, the EMAILS of MEDIA/ Newsprint JOURNALISTS / TV NEWS SHOW journalists. If you find a bad one, out of date, let me know so I can rewrite this list.
Unless you're a raving SUPER ACTIVIST, I wouldn't put load so many names on to your browser's address book unless it's under a few dozen names. These email addresses might get lost in most browsers. BUT if you know how to make LISTS on your email browser, YOU might CREATE a LIST of "LOCAL MEDIA" then one for NAT'L MEDIA. Just a few names. If you don't get "NO LONGER AT THIS EMAIL" back in ten seconds, then it's good.
OR you can shoot all the names into an email, just BCC them. Put any darn thing on top in the TO: heading, like . NEWSDEPT@AOL.COM Of course you'll get that one back. "NO SUCH USER." But they won't see that part. They're not going to click on it to test it, either.
Be aware that some people look down on press package jouranalism, call it CHURNALISM but the fact is, newspapers need to have their noses pointed. Reporters aren't psychic. They miss things. So CHURN away!
TEN OTHER FUN THINGS YOU COULD DO WITH THE LIST OF MEDIA PEOPLE:
10) Do PRO BONO volunteer P.R for the NEWLY RELEASED BOOKS of the great ACTIVISTS. Maybe one of Michael Moore's books or his film/ DVD. Or You like a newly released Greg Palast book. HIT THE AIR WAVES. Let ART BELL know how great it is. The URL at top of this page leads you to RADIO talk shows. LIST at bottom of page is emails of journalists.Where it's talk shows, be the dial-in-guest. You get the same airwave the star celeb does. Always tell the phone coordinator that you want to talk about sanctioned, right wing,republican thing, like GREAT ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGAR, what a great governor he is. Then when host gets you live, Say "He's great, but of course....." then, hit them with the OTHER STUFF which would never have gone thru to the air if you'd apprised 'em first. "But I worry about his ties to PROJECT PAPER CLIP, you know, when after WWII, we brought over the entire SS? Well, you know, it's a well known fact, ARNOLD's pop was a Nazi, before and a cop after the war." (Cite a book that has this or a news story! NEVER say it's all over the INTERNET as the right wing loves to pretend the INTERNET is as full of spoofs as a railcar full of Nigerians. "Arnold's Father was a cop after WWII, as most real diehard nazis were, it was the REICH underground. Arnold got put in military before he was old enuf, rigged by pop, and when he was speeding around at age 17 in a tank and crashed the tank in a lake, DAD got sonny out of trouble cuz Pop pulled Nazi strings." By then the TALK SHOW HOST is sputtering, but you keep your cool as you're reading from a ten page set of notes.
Google RESEARCH on all these details before you do it. by calling these folks, or emailing them or writing them, depending on what you get url/addie/fones.... and say you want to talk about the OUTRAGEOUS book about ARNOLD or the one written by M. Moore. Get on the air, REALLY MAKE MOORE's book out to be hilarious, fun, full of facts. Switch hit. Then do Noam Chomsky's books, Howard Zinn's books, do freebie PR for all the great thinkers/researchers/ writers, the guys with the right hit on it... Greg Palast. If you think what internet PR did for THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT movie some teens did......you'll see what I mean.
DO PAID PUBLIC RELATIONSfor all the businesses in your area. Find them a local giveaway magazine to put a half page ad in, set that up, get them a price. Film them a dozen TV COMMERCIALS, Learn to write witty campaigns, see http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/NotableCommercialCampaigns
9). Find great stories at FOREIGN NEWSPAPERS which don't get published in USA. I remember when FIDEL gave a speech about how we were so in debt that we did 911 to ourselves! Get the story's URL at Guardian or EXCELSIOR NEWS and send it to the American media on this list with a hint,"NEWS BLACK OUT ON FIDEL's SPEECH yesterday it's at GRAMA page, but wow, what a great story is here for you! FIDEL ALLEGES.etc "
SEND THE ORIGINAL ARTICLE. Create fat, fact-loaded emails for top writers/ editors.Do their research for them. Send them an HTM files, SAVED by you off internet. You must save them to cache to append them as attachments. SECOND, SEND THEM THE URLS so they have a choice. "Dear Reporter, click on this URL, it's a piece from X newspaper ...." Sum it up for them. Make them want to click on your URL. Less likely they'll click on any attachment....so try to send in text form. i.e. Cut paste is how you do that. I adopted a reporter at one of the TABLOIDS as some political stories are very NAT'L ENQUIRER / GLOBE in tone. I'm hoping he'll post one some day.
8.) FIND SAD SACK VICTIMS. That housewife who has a crippling disease. It could be cured with laser surgery but Med-I-Care won't do it and the states pulled out their aid. The Seniors who have no heat, who are freezing and Gov Charity LIHEAP isn't giving any help any more. Write it up, details, how sick gal can no longer work, walk, feed her children, how she's about to cost the taxpayers huge lifetime disability, but she wants to be fixed so she can work! Write up the SENIORS how they can't get out of bed day or night. HEROIC tearjerker story. Get it on the nightly news. Put it out at a lot of websites, then send the URL to reporters. That child dying, needing a liver, her HMO didn't sign on for that. Be sure to get the doctor's quotes, the social worker, even anonymously telling how the state abandoned her. Chronicle that father of nine, a farmer, forced to buy transgenic seeds one year, who didn't want them the year then suddenly The Seed corp reviewed his field and finds he's got a few of their hybrids left in there so they're TAKING HIS FARM. Get the scientific facts, how maybe he never bought GM seeds, how they BLEW in from an adjoining farm, but they're still suing him. ALL OF THESE really happened. Light the spark, blow on it. Get the stick of dynamite ready. Toss it at the greedy villains by getting that story to mainstream media.
In L.A. a friend of mine, a 70's student of Yogi Bhajan, James Stewart, was busted for selling RAW MLIK in his store RAWSOME. The Gov closed him down. That one made all the papers meaning a persona, up close story would sell to a magazine. He's the kind of client you take on for free and do a movie script of it, buy the rights to his story for a dollar. HOW TO WRITE AND HUSTLE SCRIPTS.
7.) Read your newspaper. GOOGLE SEARCH, find the BEST SITES that send out news distillations as it arises. See who covers the news the way you like it! YOu know how I do it? I put in search terms that are so far out only a really kewl site would have matching text. "LBJ killed JFK" or "Fidel alleges 911 was an inside job." Don't get too specific. Maybe "FIDEL ALLEGES " would be enough. You'll find all the far out sites. Send those fave reporters interesting pieces from abroad, be their subscriber clipping service .... in other words, JUST SERVE him. Email him, and when you get an email BACK from him, you can add him to your list of reporters you send stuff to."this is a fab story, why not cover it?" Then make another media list called GOOD MEDIA. MOLLY IVINS, JIM HIGHTOWER. Well Molly went on to the heaven, but you get the idea.
6. NAIL THE JERKS. Conversely, When you see badly written, poorly handled stories in the news, or outright fabrications, write the editor. Few years back the NY TIMES fired a writer after an activist wrote them, pointed out the writer's errors. No retraction, just a firing. The jerk reporter! A single Times reader got him fired. So write the Editors, complain about bias, errors. Or maybe you can track the guy's history. Send in a Letter to the Editors where he appeared, telling all. That's why....we always...
5). KEEP OUR EYE ON SPOOKS.The shock jocks and right wing talking heads in journalism or on talk shows are all total right wingers. Watch your newspaper or radio show to follow these folks. They are probably the ones who work for the NSC, Secret Gov, the Obama/ Clinton/ Bush/Reagan/Casey/Allen Dulles group alive and well in DC today. The least to be trusted folks. If you follow their careers, their output, you may be able to become a road hazard for some of these reporters some day, citing chapter and verse in their faces on the air. Become "HE WHO REMEMBERS." . OR, bust them noisily in public every time they do a 20thousand dollar lecture at the NYC YMCA. Phone in radio shows and cite history chapter and verse. Remind listeners, NEWT used to tell us to put all of America's poor's children in ORPHANAGES. Take them away from MOM. Nobody screamed and voila, he paved the way for CLINTON to abolish AFDC! How when they trial balloon us with crap, we can't sleep at the wheel. Hiss back! Otherwise, they have us boiling in the pot like a lobster, dying smiling.
4.) HIRE OUT! Tape yourself talking to MR. BIG AIR STAR. Keep it all on one tape, you arguing with a famous man. One after the other. So one appreciates how well you do on the air. Approach the media outlets as a potential employee, a writer, a columnist. Visit their office, talk to them. Mao said, fish can do more good swimming in the river than trying to walk on land. I know, it loses something in the translation but he meant, the bringer of the dawn doesn't have to stay on the right side of the river Jordan and preach to the choir. He can cross the river, penetrate the other camp. Something like nazi spawn ARNOLD marrying into the most progressive family, the KENNEDYS! For a while Nazis were so happy with that.
3.) CREATE A GROUP so that you can SHARE INFO, SHARE INSPIRATION, SHARE THE LISTS, IDENTIFY THE P.R> TARGETS, SHARE THE ACTIVISM-WAR WITH CHUMS. Give SPIRITUAL GROUPS in your living room, GIVE CHURCH BASEMENT meetings, get email addies of all your pals, members. GOP list and EMAIL list (BELOW) to likeminded net pals. Make the below list available to your list of friends, researchers. All of you try to add to the list EVERY young, cub REPORTER at every major daily. Work at scouting down the emails of writers you admire.
2.) BE A PUNDIT YOURSELF. Create a Website, Corporate name, Logo and get business cards and stationery. The image is that you're a think tank, lobby and/or PR corporation. If you exist on paper and have a cyber presence, you can think about a TAX EXEMPT status, or even a SERVICE you render for cash. You can start drawing CLIENTS. TO do it, go to some really cheap webhost and for 3$ or 5$ a month you get a website, or maybe 3 sites for 5$, domain name and all. Any chinks in your webdesign education go to my freebie classroom.

DO PAID or PRO BONO PUBLIC RELATIONS FOR THE 'COMERS'- Spot young up and coming communal political leaders, businesses, galleries, filmmakers, writers, (non-fiction mostly tho maybe some published novels qualify). Volunteer to do their P.R. Don't let the visionaries die on the vine. BLOG THEM and their product INTO POPULARITY. By scanning lots of internet articles and many websites, by using a COLUMNIST LOCATOR, find the new guys on the block in journalism, newcomers who are getting published for the first time in local mags, papers, and on the net. Find kids whose viewpoint is hot, accurate, whose writing is intense, it can be screen writers, activist pals, comedians even. GET IN CONTACT with this emerging genius. INFORM him/her that you want the P.R. job. They'll say "I can't afford public relations." Tell them, you can't afford not to. Let me get some stories placed, you pay me what you can later even if it's chump change. THEN hit the local papers with press releases. When the reporter does the piece on your client, get him a clipping. These people are starving now,right? But get their latest book to a big agent in NYC, or to publisher. Hint: Get a contract promising ten percent!
0.) IDEA ZERO- THE BULLS EYE CONCEPTis, MAKE A HIGH CONCEPT DOCUMENTARY ON CHEAP DIGITAL VIDEO ..one so far out that it is going to become the talk of town and sell it to people as a DVD. Or Video. Put it on U TUBE - Go around the INTERNET leaving post its so folks can find it. If I could do this, I'd shoot the text of the book ESCAPING THE MATRIX which corrects our idiot ideas about who's running the planet, who really started WWars I and II and why. To do this, Rent a digital video camera, not very costly, and after you shoot your documentary, market it the way the Indie flick 'THE JOURNEY" was marketed or the NEW AGE documentary the SECRET was marketed, an hour long documentary which earned them 60 million dollars from a 5$ a month website.
