MAKE A CUSHY SOFT LIVING WITH TIE-DYE PILLOWS!

These are like MONDRIAN PAINTINGS, on a textile you can live with. To do this art form, first find FREE WHITE OLD COTTON SHEETS.  CUT the OLD WHITE SHEETS into PILLOW SIZED SQUARES OR CIRCLES....OLD SHEETS that have too many holes are still strong enough to make fine pillows.

NEED WHITE SHEETS? Well, pale pink will work, pale blue. Tell you what: you can hit the thrift stores and find a big selection of pale colored cotton sheets for this purpose. Always make sure the SHEETS are made of real cotton, NOT POLY! Look at the tags! RAYON CURTAINS dye well, but who can tell RAYON?

The fabrics are probably delicate, but not to worry; they will have a good SENIOR life as a pillow!

PAULA's site shows you what to do next. Get PROCION dyes ONLINE from number one supplier     http://www.dharmatrading.com/procion.html

STUDY THE TEACHERS WELL. Here's another gal.

THEN, LEAP IN! GO TIE DYE THE ENTIRE SHEET.OR HALF SHEETS. It's a more manageable size. The little squares may suit you, too. Depends on the design you chose . Some designs have a kind of LIVELY HUMOR.

Cold wash, dry, IRON, sew them up on three sides. Fill them with old pillow stuffing. Most alleys have hundred of orphaned, throaway pillows. Pick them up, they're full of stuffing. HEY, stuffing is stuffing!
Get an assembly line going so you can dye ten pillows in a half day, Then another assembly line to iron them, stuff them.  LAST!!!!!
PUT BIG TASSLES on the corners. Another assembly LINE! EVERYBODY has bags of old yarns. Thrift stores have all kinds of thread and yarn. TASSLE SITE: http://www.farfesha.com/pages/tassel_making.html http://www.fiber-images.com/Free_Things/How_Tos/how-to_make_tassel.htm

You will sell them off your car bumper at a posh supermarket. Take along a hundred RAINBOW WARTY GOURDS, the kind you put on table at Thanksgiving. They combine well. Very splashy. Ask me for seed. ASTROLOGY@earthlink.net Anita Sands Hernandez
