This is an inset fireplace, but it has a useable STOVE inside it. For economy's sake when country living, the living room is both where you cook and eat, and socialize.  Don't use WOOD when you BUILD a PROPER FIREPLACE. You want to use ALL STONE, BRICK, ROCK facing EVEN but only rock that won't split. Many native rocks will split in half with a big fire.
