THE AZTEC MELTING PUMPKIN

I have just found seeds for a new variety of pumpkin, one I've never seen in any market.though I have seen it in a few garden catalogues which handle oddities. The Mexican call it "calabaza de castilla" It is as unlike all other supermarket pumpkins as an UFO is different from an airplane. First, it is more lobular (like this photo) than regular squash. It looks like those Aztec pumpkin statues, the ones at the MUSEO....carved, circular, pipelike round lobes with perfect linear indent, and shiny skin like cafe au lait creamy, pastel bronze enamel paint. (NOT a true orange like this photograph,) Then the entire  thing is kind of collapsed as if it were melting in the sun! Slightly pancaked, Flattened. Very dramatic. THE FLESH is darker orange than normal pumpkins so it must be very healthful to eat! (High in anti-oxidants and Vitamin A). And big ole seeds, probably delicious too. A guaranteed vermifuge, too! In case your family likes SUSHI!

If you want seeds to the AZTEC MELTING PUMPKIN, I will send them to you along with a few pckgs of the usual suspects, (my tradebeads,) Slutflowers,  Ugli Tree, (grapefruit on the outside tangarine on the inside, a citrus sport) Turkish Mulberry tree, Canna Lillies, and the 14 foot tall Magenta Hollyhocks. And regular Halloween pumpkins. All free to you. I pay for envelope but you must send the stamps to me FIRST at 7900 Zelzah Ave, RESEDA CA 91335. And I will be sending you a field full of next Summer's most dramatic garden statuary, the CASTILLA PUMPKIN by return post.

This pumpkin is guaranteed to be so unusual you will not want to carve it into jack-o-lanterns, You will probably do as I do with my pumpkins, I litter living room/ dining room tables with them, all summer, autumn, winter long. And you will gift them to astonished friends. Anita Sands from astrology@earthlink.net
