A stroke is like death by a single, shattering hammer blow to the brain. It happens when a capillary ruptures spontaneously inside your head. Stroke is the third leading cause of death after cancer and heart disease so you should be very concerned. One in five of us will have one,  maybe leaving us semi-senile, paralyzed and unable to speak. If you want to end up with a horrible destiny, to be locked immobile, in a five foot four inch high box and left there for years on end, go on with your life, right now, don't read this. Don't stop ingesting the foods that give strokes. Don't start the life habits that save you from this horrible killer and the others that go with weak capillary walls, cancer metastasis, aortic rupture.

A potential victim may not know that he is marked for a stroke but there are SYMPTOMS that show whether you are the 'stroke type' by family inheritance, or not. One is ARCUS SENILIS either around the iris of eye or at TOP only. Meaning your BRAIN is filled with salt/mineral/ fat CEMENT. BAD! But below, see a clear picture of a cloud of salt deposited in fatty arteries and capillaries covering your entire body. BADDER!

Another sign, maybe even earlier is those little brain 'pops' that create floaters in the eye sight, or flashes. Floaters are visible dark spots, you see them fly by like grasshoppers; flashes are lights when you move the eye. "Church windows" are a mini-stroke, where your vision turns into... well... church windows. These impediments to your sight show that you've already had a teenie weenie stroke and that your brain capillaries burst easily. If you do, quit all salt and saturated fat and do not soak in hot tubs. Keep water luke-warm. Rest frequently during exercise especially in hot sun, so you don't get so overheated that you have a capillary in the brain burst. Do not supplement with calcium as it joins with fat and makes plaque in your arteries and capillaries. Get your calcium thru broccoli. Hard minerals other than salt can join with fat in your blood and make the cement that hardens arteries.

Next sign of a tendency toward strokes would be fact that you have high blood pressure. So get it checked often. But 180 over 100 alone cannot cause a ruptured capillary or vein. It is also required that you also have weak capillaries and veins stuffed with plaque! How can you tell what shape your most minute veins are in? Well examine your flesh. Do you have a firm, hard body? Or do you have soft flesh? That means you're soft from head to toe. You have soft capillaries, veins, flesh. The whole enchilada. One is easily bruised, may have varicose veins in the legs, or around the nose and cheeks. There can be early facial wrinkling. In late twenties, flesh on the body becomes soft, flaccid. Early 30s, facial lines start. What's happening is that your body's collagen factor, (the cell wall strengthener in us) is weak. So that's no big deal. We can FIX that part.

While it's true that the stroke tendency is genetic, meaning some family's expiration date on collagen is l00,000 miles, they're like the GENETIC FORDS where every part flies apart at l00,000 miles. Other families' collagen holds together for a 200,000 mile limit or expiration date. They're more like the Chevies of the human car metaphor experience but for either group, genetic expiration dates are somewhat friendlier & even reversible through diet. And what you're NOT doing, i.e. smoking or living in smoggy cities, gives us all a Ferrari edge.

A history of strokes in the family is just a family tendency toward a genetic (inherited) cell wall and capillary wall weakness. (Dangerous if cancer also runs in your family as metastasis occurs more easily when cell walls are weak.) Fix cell walls you stave off cancer. In fact the whole cancer thing may be NOTHING MORE than cell walls, as many researchers claim cancer is in all of us, some of us are just softer peaches.

If Blood pressure is high the 'collagen low' tendency can be the cause of fatal coronary aneurysms, artery wall bulges or capillary ruptures in brain, i.e. 'strokes.' If this is the case, you and all family members should get on the anti stroke diet and stay on it.

WHAT IRIDOLOGIST SEES:- a sodium ring on the eye, a white cloud on edge of iris, representing the extremities of the body, skin, circulatory system, and at top of the eye, the brain. If the cloud is only on the top of the eye it is called 'arcus senilus' as it affects brain adversely, making clear thinking difficult. This visible cloud actually is a cloud of sediment that is in the skull area. The capillaries are stuffed with plaque, their tiny conduits clogged, their walls upholstered with sodium, inorganic minerals and all of it glued together with fat. Blood is unable to flow to the brain. If one has hardening of the arteries in the brain, one has the ideal climate for cerebral strokes to occur. If one also has high blood pressure, there is significant danger. But one more condition is required: weak capillary walls, not so visible in the eye. If the person has soft, flaccid flesh, and had it early in life, the body's collagen factor is off. Intake of foods that have bioflavenoid (raw whole citrus,guavas, blackberries, cherries) probably was low. The family may have a genetic tendency toward higher bioflavenoid requirement than most people. But, if the client is easily bruised, has varicosity's around nose, on cheeks, and has soft flesh with early facial wrinkling, the third stroke factor is already in place.

HEALING GOALS: Lower blood pressure, improve COLLAGEN FACTOR, strengthen cell walls, banish plaque causing hardening of the arteries, lower blood pressure. This can be accomplished by reading & researching books at the healthfood store looking for all known holistic healing solutions. This usually involve specific herbs, diets, exercise regimens that will actually strengthen your cell walls or collagen hence back off this condition. In the case of strokes, the main vitamin you can take to prevent the specific condition is bioflavenoids, part of the Vitamin C group. Taking bioflavenoids will not only forestall the stroke condition in old age, it will give you such bettered general health that you will be enabled to give more happiness to your family, work harder, earn more money, or simply travel and enjoy life more. But study is best done by sitting in healthfood store with a pencil, reading herbal or diet books. Read up on strokes, varicose veins, or other kinds of weak organs, disease tendencies, painful or bothersome body areas. We all have certain problem-body parts or glands, tendencies, symptoms. Through books, you might research this tendency and discover the diet you require. Often there are certain toxic foods you must avoid, or conversely, foods and healing herbs that you will need. Then at home, go through your notes, and write up your own blank that looks something like this or use this one, and hang it where you have to look at it. I have done SOME research and have come up with the following:

HEALING REGIMEN FOR THE STROKE TENDENCY:
ALL NIGHT- SOPORIFIC 'deep sleep' herb tea (made of all the tranquilizing herbs available at Healthfood store, (valerian, skullcap, passionflower, chamomile,) made the nite before, left by bed & sipped all night to deepen and lengthen your sleep IF there are any sleep problems. Stress quickens the progression of all weak collagen conditions, so conversely, healing sleep prevents their progression.

BEFORE BREAKFAST: high calcium herb tea (raspberry leaf and Alfalfa) OR freshly squeezed unpasteurized orange juice, (NOT HEAT TREATED as in frozen juices. It must be from fully ripe oranges or it's TOO ACID!)  Maybe put a tad of liquid Potassium in it. (available at HFS.) Many potass caps never break down so we must take liquid form. Potassium gives us muscular strength. It gives better peristalsis, hence better digestion. Most Americans are deficient in potassium due to heavy salting of food, which throws off this balance. The Salt/Potassium balance. Load one, you lose the other. You know how scientists first got onto this? They noted that animals who ate lots of potassium like deer, would FIEND for SALT. As we eat so much salt, we should be ingesting potassium.

Another cause of potassium depletion is excessive animal protein eating. We restore body's balance by taking potassium, later, as you eat more fruits, greens, and vegetables, which are high in potassium, and less meat and SALT, (which creates high blood pressure, hence strokes) you will not have to supplement potassium. Cut down salt. Most Americans take l0-20 grams daily. 2 grams is all that is requ'd.

If you do intellectual work, breakfast, take all day brain TONIC like dong quai or ginseng, gota cola, with GREEN TEA. Take Glutathione, pycogenols, bioflavenoids supplements. Later, as your health improves, decrease use of these.

WITH BREAKFAST: EAT Bioflavenoids and C-rich fruits in a 'shake' (plums, citrus, blackberries, raw citrus, guavas or cherries). Take Spirulina algae and bee pollen either in capsules or in the shake.

ALTERNATIVE: If you like toast, make your own low-salt bread (always let it rise 2 hrs to inactivate wheat's phytic acids) or get whole grain bread that is made of SPROUTED GRAINS ONLY. (Food for Life brand or often called BIBLE BREAD when another brand.) Pritikin bread is good, low salt, and sprouted grain bread, where the dough has been allowed to rise for several hours is available at super market, or get some at healthfood store. Use unsalted clarified butter. (recipe below). Use extremely moderately! Spread toast with a small amount of tupelo honey --some are available with royal bee jelly mixed in, (or use the new all fruit, Sugar-free jam). I make my own jam out of raspberries, lemon rind, lemon juice. A 2$ bag of raspberries makes two big jars jam! Jam making is very very easy!

ALTERNATIVE: Enjoy real Yogurt. (That is, it 'bleeds' whey when it is cut --not creamy in texture, and it shows actual real cultures on the label like acidophilus, bifidus, and others. This yogurt can easily & inexpensively be made by YOU. Buy the first jar. Heat the entire quart of goat milk (why bother with cows, they are over medicated and given hormones to excrete more useless milk,) to scalding, that is to kill resident bacteria. Cool to body temp, whisk in 2 tbsps of last box of yogurt, keep in warm place until it clots. Fridge. When you get down to two tbsps, start over. GOAT milk is so much better than cow, you'll really come to respect these animals and like me, want to have a flock! You have to read up on cows, how they are fed an abnormal grain diet, which makes them so ill they require constant anti biotics to even survive.....for you to appreciate what damage you do to your family using it!

Eat your yogurt with fresh fruits. Never mix food groupings. Protein goes with sour fruit. Protein goes with Greens. Sweet Fruits are eaten alone. Starches are eaten with vegetables, not meats. You should not take fruit, toast AND yogurt. It's one group or the other.

A real power supplement you can make yourself is ROSE HIP JAM.Or I am lazy. I just take a ripe, red ROSE HIP which looks like a big orange or red marble, and I chew the sour flesh off it. It tastes like sour orange. I then take the seeds in the middle, and plant them in pots, and get rose bushes.

Or slice 6-12 of them into 1/4 cup juice, let sit overnight, add this magic elixir to fresh squeezed orange juice. Then drink the juice with the rose hip 'pellets' in it. Two servings of bioflav. rich fruit a day are important for preventing stroke.

MID MORNING: Fruits sometimes don't stick to the ribs. If they leave you with intense hunger, your pancreas is probably over-insulinating. In this case eat a big handful of calcium rich almonds, (always pre soak a few hours to remove skins, they bother the tummy.) Eat chestnuts, walnuts, or pumpkin or sunflower seeds. These must always be refrigerated as the fats in them easily get rancid (hence could become carcinogenic). Once nut is shelled and seed is exposed to air, keep cold and don't keep LONG. The same is true of olive oil and whole wheat flour. Rancid oils in seeds or grains or nuts are a known cause of cancer. They create a condition of 'free radical formation' in the body. That's when these killer electrons make swiss cheese of your atomic level cells. Avoid it by refrigerating perishables! Almonds should be blanched with boiling water, you can peel immediately, or cold water, takes a four hour soak. Skins are discarded. They are astringent & aging. Eat your nuts with a few dried unsulphured fruits (HFS) store. Soak dried fruit overnight, keep in fridge in lemon juice and water.

WITH LUNCH: Always take a few multi-unit vitamin capsules, the organic kind from the healthfood store, not the cheap kind found at drug stores. Also take certain fat dissolving vit/herb mixtures (Vit E, Lecithin, Butcher's Broom, Evening Primrose, Omega oils, cold water fish like COD OIL or EGLA fish oils, Krill. And take Niacin.
It flushes your skin in beginning but less as you clearn out veins.

To make certain you fully digest your foods, or if t here's any BURPING after meals, take digestive enzymes (also available at Health Food Stores. Bitters before a meal will cause digestion too, watercress, arugula in salad awaken the digestive juices. Also smelling your savories cooking makes tummy secrete acid.) If protein or fat is included in meal, always take your enzymes. To build bone health, learn to use, eat high calcium foods like sesame, soynuts, soy miso, or sesame Tahini and the foods made out of it 'hummos.'

Raw butter is best. Eat it as is. Dairy-allergics should separate the milk product from the butter oil by heating butter on stove, in a frying pan, gently skimming off foam on top for toast, STRAIN, DISCARDING lumps of milk on the bottom. Store ghee in fridge. Use on vegies. Onion, cayenne, garlic may be used to season food too. For one vegie, you may substitute a fresh, raw greens with olive oil, mashed, raw lemon juice. We never use vinegar as it can damage the stomach lining. Season oil with real garlic, & a dash of soy sauce. The perfect salad dressing. If you need to feel 'full', add one serving of a whole grain like millet or brown rice, or quinoa, or brown basmati rice. If you must, on grain, use unsalted ghee or butter. With this meal take one healthfood store (better quality) multivit pill. Wakame SOUP is good any time.

BETWEEN MEAL STROKE PREVENTER -To keep plaque from forming in your arteries which creates aneurysms. 4 oz red cabbage juice or red grapes juiced with seeds have stroke preventing properties. Also high organic salt juice like CELERY will melt the INORGANIC salt in your veins.

BEDTIME A capsule of Herbal laxative taken with herbal sleep mix tea that can lengthen your deep sleep to 9-10 hours. Leave 2 glasses of this tea by bed in case you wake up, slosh down some more. ALWAYS drink distilled water all night. Inorganic Minerals are not needed by people w. plaque in arteries. Your fasting time is your time to CLEANSE and water does the job.

If the iris of your eye has "NERVE RINGS" GET regular MASSAGE ON ALL YOUR NERVE MERIDIANS. Have your wife oil her fingers, rub nerves hard, on all the limbs, moving toward lungs. NERVE WORK can be accomplished by yourself, alone, too. Do Yogic stretches with deep, nose breathing pulling and stretching each limb to the max, until the nerve burns. When finished, you will have relaxed your nerves and will get more benefit from your sleep.

THE SALT QUESTION- Take salt out of house, out of your diet! Never buy prepared foods with salt in them. AVOID chips. At parties, you cannot grab salted foods, dips, meats. Start reading labels. One top ramen is 900 millegrams of SALT. One can of super market SOUP is about the same. SO SAY SAYONARA TO CHIPS! Salt causes high blood pressure which in turn causes strokes. IS A CHIP WORTH IT? Use GOMASIO on all grains, proteins that need salting. *recipe below

SALT SUBSTITUTES- GOMASIO: Toast sesame seeds lightly in heavy skillet until some of them pop, then cool. Grind in a dash of true sea salt from healthfood store, a dash to a LOT of seeds which spreads the salt out so all the seeds become salty. Do this in blender, or in mortar/pestle. Store in old spice jar, in cool place. Use GOMASIO on all savory foods. Add herbs to give extra flavor without salt. USE SOY SAUCE LITE, diluting it with water when you add it to cooked food. Amazing, but your taste for salt will change. LESS will seem like more to you. AND REMEMBER, freshly pressed garlic on every food you eat.

HOW TO REMOVE ALL SALT STORED IN BODY - The concept is CHELATION ---that's where the 'organic' version of the CHEMICAL ELEMENT will grab the inorganic version and SOLUBILIZE IT. The way detergent solubilizes bacon grease. Then your bloodstream carries it away. Use 'organic' sodium celery juice w. fat meals, add lecithin capsule, 1/2 hour after the meal, to melt the fat out of veins. Take both after a fatty meal. Over a period plaque melts away. I once opened a lecithin capsule into a jar of face cream. The entire jar turned to water in a short hour or so. Amazing, no? So lecithin is how we work on the fat build up. Also, don't eat any more hard fats. Avoid oils that solidify in the fridge. Some olive oils don't. Buy THOSE. Organic sodium in celery is one of the best salt chelating foods --you can fit it into every corner of your daily diet. Next, get salt out of the house. Keep l ow fat soy sauce in kitchen and make your own GOMASIO with sesame seeds. Here's how. Toast seed lightly until golden and starting to pop. Cool. Take a pinch of salt and blend or grind into the half cup of sesame seeds. It will melt over, into the seeds. Now, put a pinch on your steak or your EGG. Cut down on marbled meat but an egg occasionally might be OK although Pritikin would have a stroke if he saw it. He said no mayo, no oil on salads, no NUTTIN'. But use GOMASIO on vegies, proteins and you'll be amazed at how a pinch becomes enough saltiness. Probably due to the superior flavor of the nutty sesame. So, got the picture? No salt or fat. Strengthen your arteries with bioflavenoid rich berries, cherries, guavas and citrus. Grapefruit especially and  Supplement extra bioflavenoids in capsules.

by medical nutritionist Dr. Lisa Hark .Natural blood thinning foods can
be divided into four categories: foods containing salicylates, foods
rich in vitamin E, foods containing omega-3 fatty acids and foods with

Foods Containing Salicylates

Salicylates are aspirin-like substances that have the ability to block
vitamin K absorption. Vitamin K is essential to the body's blood
clotting process, so reduced absorption inhibits platelet aggregation.
Blood clotting is essential for wound healing, but some people with
arterial diseases or those who are at risk of stroke can benefit from
"less sticky" platelet cells. Foods that are high in salicylates include
many spices, most fruit -- especially dried fruits -- and many nuts.
Spices high in salicylates include curry powder, cayenne pepper, ginger,
paprika, cinnamon, turmeric, licorice and peppermint. Fruits high in
salicylates include raisins, prunes, cherries, cranberries, blueberries,
grapes, oranges, tangerines and strawberries. Other food items known for
their salicylate content include honey, vinegar, red and white wine,
cider, broccoli, avocados, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts. A 2001
study published in the European Journal of Nutrition discovered that
organic foods have higher salicylate content than commercially farmed
foods. SO MAKE ORGANIC PICKLES and avoid a stroke!

Foods Rich in Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antagonist to vitamin K and considered a
safe, natural blood thinner. Vitamin E is also a strong antioxidant,
which protects the insides of arteries from oxidation damage caused by
free radicals. According to the National Institutes of Health, free
radicals damage cells and contribute to the development of
cardiovascular disease. Good sources of vitamin E include most nuts,
especially almonds and walnuts; all vegetable oils; chickpeas; lentils;
wheat; rice; oats; mangos, and tomatoes. Some foods rich in vitamin E,
such as spinach and broccoli, are also rich in vitamin K. These tend to
cancel each other out in terms of affecting blood clotting.

Foods with Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Omega-3 fatty acids, especially DHA and EPA, make the platelet cells
less prone to clotting. They also lower cholesterol levels and reduce
the likelihood of arteries becoming clogged, according to "Biochemical,
Physiological and Molecular Aspects of Human Nutrition." Fish oils, such
as code liver oil, are excellent sources of omega-3 fatty acids and are
rapidly absorbed by the body. Fatty fish are another excellent source
and include salmon, herring, mackerel, lake trout, albacore tuna and
anchovies. Omega-3 fatty acids are also found in flax seed oil, walnuts,
canola oil and pumpkin seeds.

Foods with Natural Antibiotic Properties

Some foods, most notably garlic and onions, are natural antibiotics that
can kill the intestinal bacteria that manufacture vitamin K, thus
reducing platelet cell aggregation. In fact, garlic has nine different
compounds, called anti-aggregants, that prevent platelet cells from
clotting, as cited in "Advanced Nutrition: Macronutrients,
Micronutrients, and Metabolism." Other foods that have anti-aggregant
properties include jicama, pomegranate juice, olive oil and red wine, or all alcohol.

My galpal Pat, who is holistic, had mini stroke, writes: One of the interesting things in dealing with stroke is the challenge of repairing your own, weakened blood vessels. You will use diet and supplements to make your blood vessels strong, while at the same time keeping the blood flowing freely with a low salt, low chol diet. I had a stroke in 2000, and I'm dealing with advanced macular degeneration in my eyes, caused by weakened blood vessels leaking into the middle of my retina and killing my  eyesight in the middle of my eye.

So what to do? I was on Aggrenox for many years, then switched to Plavix. Ran out of money, went on baby aspirin, but the mac degeneration went wild. Oh, probably not because of the aspirin. Being broke and nearly evicted, I was terrified all the time, and slept as much as possible. This stress, strain, and inactivity probably made my Mac D advance, and cost me most of the eyesight in the middle of my right eye.

So now I take baby aspirin in the morning, and grape seed extract at night. Not together, as aspirin induces bleeding, and grape seed extract (from red grapes) makes blood vessels stronger, so they tend to have opposite effects. I've been on a heavy vitamin/herbal regimen since Dec., and my BP is 94/61, my mac d is better in my left eye (and no worse in my right-- advanced mac d has no treatment), my diabetes is very well controlled.

I take Dyazide, Norvasc, and Vasotec for BP. Diuretics are the first line of defense for BP. But BP has many causes, not just fluid retention-- stiff vessel walls, easy clotting, etc. I also take aspirin as I've said. For my eyes I take lutein, taurine (amino acid). I take red yeast rice for cholesterol, having had horrible effects from statin drugs like Lipitor, Zocor, Mevacor. To counteract these effects, I take Co Q 10. I eat greens every day, and have 12 ounces of cold water fish a week.

But my biggie is Women's Extreme Vitamins, with the extra B-complex, and iron. Now, I'm past menopause, but my iron is low still. If you don't need iron (which helps facilitate oxygen to the heart and brain), then there is a Men's Extreme Type vitamin which contains no iron, but still has the other good stuff.

And if you are unlucky enough to have a stroke, please do as much deep breathing as possible during it, to facilitate oxygen to body parts. My Lamaze training really helped here! So google "HOW TO TELL if you're having a stroke," and then google LAMAZE. Or, any doc will Rx you an oxygen tank. Those are good too. Hospital rentals stores will provide them.
