Most Americans subsist on an inadequate, even harmful diet. They have the beginning stages of many maladies; heart disease, diabetes, cancer and, quite often, arthritis. However, in more "primitive" cultures (still in loving contact with nature) arthritis is rare and if it showed up it would be deemed a serious disease which would be skillfully treated by holistic means. Even an Indian sitting on a tree stump wouldn't just grin and bear all that unnecessary suffering.
IN the jungle, nobody would think twice about rubbing the saps of vines into the joint. And spending hours rubbing for one's relatives or chums. But in the big, modern city, nobody rubs anybody! Doctors will just screw you up with meds and pain killers. Don't go there. Most Med-i-care has co-pay. Believe me, you can get on top of this yourself. Beside the two thing given, chi lamp and yoga pose to burn the nerve, stretch the nerve actually, root out the Causes: It has been observed by health practitioners that reactions to certain foods can cause the symptoms of arthritis to appear. These problem foods are high purine meats, peanuts, nightshade plants like tomato, eggplant, potato and peppers.
When James Coburn began to suspect that food allergies were contributing to his arthritis, he went on a program of isolating himself from all suspected dietary toxins, then he re-introduced suspected allergin foods slowly, watching for reactions. I did more informal self-testing. Eating a food that I haven't had in a while. In my case, peanut butter, eggplant or potato will gives joint pain the next day, so two of my favorite tasty foods have to be kept at distance! On another level, pasta or baked goods gives stuffy sinuses that night, so I can't do those either.
To relieve the deep, grinding pain of arthritis, you’ll want to take:
(NOT ALL AT THE SAME TIME but regularly!)
SUPPLEMENTS: of calcium, calcium citrate with magnesium, pycogenol, glucosamine or glucosamine sulfate ,boron, magnesium, cod liver oil, other fish oils;
apple cider vinegar (brush your teeth afterwards) sloshed into juices.
evening primrose oil; kelp, selenium, nettles, hawthorn, prickly ash.
niacinamide (important: never take one member of the B-complex family by itself as it will lead to a deficiency of the other B vitamins, if you take niacinamide, for instance, you MUST take a B-complex tablet as well…because rickets aren’t fun.)
methionine vitamin E vitamin C (deficiency of this vitamin is common, it’s needed for collagen synthesis) pantothenic acid. PAINKILLERS: skullcap, valerian.
RUBS: aloe, peppermint oil, comfrey, cayenne, onion, celery/ cabbage juice on or put into a poultice, wrap. DMSO (vets' shin rub) with garlic. CHINA TOWN has all those medical pharmacies. They're terrific, just point to your bursa and say "OUCHY" they'll give you SOME POWER RUBS. Then go home and beg for the magic of your loving family's massage! MENTAL ATTITUDE: Loosen up. Let go of rigid attitudes. So you’re always right - who cares - you’re in pain because of your need to be right. Let go of needing to prove you’re right.
THE PAIN-FREE WAY TO LIVE:
DRINK MORE( filtered) WATER! Double your usual amount.Get water filters.
Drink green tea.
Eat the cartilage from chicken bones.
Eat shark cartilage as capsules
Red or black cherries. DAILY in season. Eaten ALONE.
Do not mix proteins with fruits. Fruit meals are a solo item.
Salads combine with meat/ other proteins, but definitely try to get by without meat. Starches combine with veggies/salads. Efficient digestion gives less waste.
Maintain a body weight as close to normal as possible to avoid strain of weight-bearing joints.
Include more dietary fibre.
Avoid beef and beef by-products and high purine foods. Sardines, Gland meats.
Get a CHI LAMP and take treatments.
Go to CHINA TOWN for linaments, have family members rub it in with a lot of pressure to make those acids flow out of the body. The more they massage, the more water you have to drink, cuz the toxins really do float free!
FOODS TO AVOID: The entire deadly nightshade family(genus solanaceae), includes: tomatoes, peppers, potato, eggplant, and smoking tobacco! Diet: All simple natural foods. Healthfood stores now offer non-acid reactionBIBLE BREAD. Processed and concentrated carbohydrates must be avoided. Complex-carbohydrate, high-fibre foods should be stressed and fats kept to a minimum.
Niacinamide, 500 mg/ 4 times a day (under strict medical supervision)
Methionine, 250 mg/ 4 times a day
vitamin E, 600 iu/day
vitamin A, 10,000iu/day
vitamin C, 1-3g/day
VitaminB6, 50mg/day (always take B-complex at the same time to prevent deficiency)

AND FINALLY, A FEW WORDS ABOUT HYGIENE:
KEEP YOUR KITCHEN CLEAN! Sterilize the kitchen things we use every day and rarely know how to take proper care of. They include dish cloths, dish towels, sponges, scrubbers, scrapers, cutting boards, etc. These articles MUST be kept clean and dry or fierce bacterial growth will ensue. Cutting boards and washing-up cloths must be sterilized with bleach and rinsed thoroughly, especially after meat has been prepared. It is possible that much of this illness is caused by ignorance of proper methods of hygiene.
Oh, and Do deep, long yoga stretches. Yogi Bhajan says that when we PULL the nerves (the meridian of any limb,) in a 'painful' long yoga stretch and have someone push down on us squeezing us into the posture, massively stretching that meridian so it's deeper than our usual ability to bend, while doing deep nose breathing, we can HEAL the joints near the nerve we're stretching. I tried it and it works like a charm. I had gout in toe, ankle, foot, and he said do the maha mudra with that extra push. He said SIT ON ONE HEEL, extend the other leg in front of you. I had someone push me down, nose onto knee, one leg outstretched and the other bent under me. I held this painful stretch and tried to loosen into it, relax into it. Well, it was Magic. Weeks of gout pain and swollen joints just disappeared.
