Alcoholism is described by alcoholics as a craving so intense it cannot be resisted. Candyholics know that feeling. It is as if you are MADLY HUNGRY but also standing in a vaporous cloud of the desired food. You can almost taste it. The hallucination of eating that food presses in through your pores and will not be thrown off. Your entire body screams to have IT. And no addict can resist this 24 hours a day. He goes and has it.

That screaming urge for any super-refined carbohydrate (alcohol, sugar) is a hallucination arranged in a stressed pancreas gland, caused by HYPOGLYCEMIA, a word which literally means too little sugar in the blood, ('Hypo' meaning too little, 'Glycemia' referring to sugar or Glucose.)

If you regularly experience cravings to LIFT your blood sugar with alcohol and then, when you do it, a half hour later have another severe drop in blood sugar, and a sharp hunger in your sternum area, happening very quickly after using that high carb food, with resulting spaciness, muscular weakness, making you CRAVE alcohol again, you should suspect this low blood sugar condition to exist.

It is seen on the palm as reddish pinpricks dotting the lines of lifeline, headline, heartline, and often in the folds of fingers.

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is a disease that mimics many other body dysfunction's, besides alcoholism ---Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, insomnia, depression, tremors or nerves and which causes sexual fatigue in women and impotence in men. They can happen all together meaning all at once in bad cases, so they multiply  each other or snowball and the 'user' keeps feeding the flagging fires, i.e. mainlining sweets causing more INSULIN to flood the body, and hunger to return. The eternal MUNCHIES. Then the body runs OUT of INSULIN and diabetes kicks in. No more munchies. It stops. Instead hot head and numb feet! You wake with numb hands and feet. Vision gets blurred, kidneys start to fail. All because a pre-existing pancreas gland weakness, a sensitivity to pure sweets was triggered when modern man changed his diet from the billion year old, established gorilla or caveman diet (honey twice a year, fruits summer only,) to a feast of modern stimulants and sweets. Coffee arrived in Europe mid 16th century. four hundred years of our European ancestors using caffeine, chocolate and sugar has hit the homo sapiens pancreas hard.

The modern availability of processed, frozen, precooked, DE-nutritious, unnatural, empty calorie foods cause all the body's glands to lose functioning and be vulnerable to some disease or other, (seen in the iris of eye as a slubby, burlap iris instead of a finely-woven, silk iris. Bernard Jensen's 3$ book of color plates of irises "IRIDOLGY SIMPLIFIED" is at all healthfood stores. Google his name, buy it directly from his Ranch.

Holistic healers maintain that modern man has a starving, weak swollen, inflamed pancreas that over insulinates at the drop of the hat. They tell us that a strong reaction to the sugar in alcohol is what causes both sugar cravings, alcoholism, perpetual munchies, chronic overeating with gain in body weight, soft flesh and weak muscles, bowed spines and early aging.

If you have any of these situations, suspect a troubled pancreas. If your pancreas is stressed, your diet will be unbalanced as you're wandering around with specific cravings and you're likely to be hypoglycemic, well then, diabetes and heart disease are not far behind says Dr. Barry Sears, author of "Enter the Zone" where he unveils new research on the unsuspected effect of starches on the heart.

HYPOGLYCEMIA is hard to diagnose if you're not looking for it. There is a medical blood test, 6 hours of fasting with controlled amounts of sugar given every hour, and blood samples taken as well and read, but it's never given unless the disease is actually suspected, and that takes a doctor who's aware. Most aren't. The problem is it's a strenuous test, as small doses of sugar over six, fasting hours will drive anybody out of their minds. You'll end up perspiring, weeping, starving hungry and angry as a tied goat.

But without being diagnosed, alcoholism, sugar binge-ing and hypoglycemia continue un-traced, un-dealt with. Researchers estimate that 25% of stressed, big city people hyperinsulinate in the presence of carbohydrates and sugars and have uncontrollable urges for quickly metabolized carbohydrates, whether as alcohol or candy, caffeine, sodas, fruits or refined starches. Their bodies seem to crave 'jet fuel foods' and feel sluggish without them. When they run out of insulin, they get DIABETES.

Whichever pancreas-stimulant you tend to hunger for,  carb use is addictive and unstoppable without a multi-pronged, dietary strategy, known better by the holistic healing community than the medical one. 

HYPOGLYCEMIA is not the medical doctor's favorite disease because doctors know of no chemical cure (which they love, as they are totally EDUCATED (?) by the pharmaceutical companies), hence they have absolutely no knowledge of nature cures. As hypoglycemia (too much insulin) creates alcoholism which leads to DIABETES, (running out of insulin) and diabetes leads to blindness, kidney failure and leg amputation,) this low blood sugar situation is a condition that must be stopped in its tracks. It can be attenuated by diet but not cured. It can never be cured. Second you go back to alcohol, sugar, carbs, it arises again.

 If we knew how we got this ragged pancreas, wouldn't it help us cure it? No. The basic, underlying pancreatic weakness is acquired by generational abuse, then conferred by parents on the fetus. It seems to run in families. The touchy family pancreas is exacerbated by stress, lack of sleep, stimulants, (frequent use of caffeine and other artificial rocket-fuel 'chemical' foods like refined breakfast cereals with sugar, which modern man has used only in the last 'minute' of history. The damage cannot be cured by chemicals.

Only a return to natural diet, vitamins and herbs and a relaxed, caffeine-free pace can attenuate the condition. Not cure if you go on provoking it with stress sleeplessness and sugar. BTW, the word 'cure' is permitted only to the AMA so the following is a really a method to SOOTHE the pancreas. Soothing is definitely a healing method which conventional medicine does not recognize. 

To show you how far  doctors are missing the mark, a hundred years ago, a candy bar every hour was the way the disease was handled. The docs were total jerks! Now we know that is exactly the wrong tack to take.

The condition comes from the pancreas OVERREACTING to sugars by throwing huge amts of insulin into the blood. Sugar is the exacerbating factor, although caffeine, starchy foods, alcohol and even fruit can also cause the same symptoms of blood sugar shooting rocket high, then valley-low, but sugar could never be the cure for low blood sugar. DUHHHHH! Totally quitting starches, sweet fruits, sugar, caffeine and alcohol IS the 'cure.'

Nowadays the conventional medical way to evade problems from hypoglycemia, but NOT to cure it--as no cure is known by the AMA---involves 6 to 8 mini-meals a day, all of them featuring protein. What conventional doctors don't know is that such a diet would make anybody tired and toxic, if not literally white-tongued, toxemia-ish, swollen faced, and cause kidney problems within a few years.

The body needs no more than 2 protein meals a day; more is clogging, stresses kidneys. Scant amounts of the protein should be red meat, gland meats or egg yolk as these leave plaque in the arteries and holistics believe they're carcinogenic if they move too slowly through the bowel. So always add green salad to get them moving fast. Fiber actually diminishes their fatty, cholesterol effect. Salad, swiss chard, arugular, carrots all are fiber.

Ideally, fresh caught fish, (most commercial fish is ten days old or bathed in sulfites which do cannot be washed off and which give headaches, they are allergens), --range free poultry or tofu proteins should be given in no more than 2 meals, separated by 3 hours from alkaline-digestion, sweet or starchy food meals so that this protein can be fully digested. If you want milk, do it alone.

Fibrous greens should accompany animal flesh so that the acidic digestion of this food is 'alkalized' (no more arthritis, osteoporosis). Fiber carries food, hence fat, out quickly too, gives adios plaque!

Water is taken taken after digestion, to flush the uric acid part of the protein from the body. Uremia or Toxemia is a condition where too many protein by-products 'stay' in the body. And you know flesh is rotting in the colon by smelling a meat-eater's breath, by looking at his white-covered tongue and his face, which becomes a swollen pudding or meat pie. (Typical old age in a meat-eating country involves all meat-eaters looking and smelling alike: puffy, wrinkled, hobbling, acidic and rotten.)

Pointing out these toxic states is relevant to the alcoholic's predicament because feeling achy tired and toxic contributes to the desire for mood-changing substances like sugar, coffee or alcohol.

Many vegetarians report the same experience of eating an animal who has suffered before being slaughtered, (lamb, calves) as causing sorrow the day afterwards. SAD hormones in meat make a vegetarian depressed the next day.

We've all seen the 'happy' natives in poor countries where there is little or no animal protein eaten. Instinctively, 3rd worlders combine several, vegetarian proteins which have incomplete amino acids, to get a complete amino food. (soak raw almonds for an hour, peel them, eat a lot of them with toasted sesame seeds for flavor, or raisins/ dates in small amts. ANOTHER idea, REAL COCONUT. ) In these countries, old people retain the facial features of their youth. There is no swelling up. Their bodies are lithe, active and healthy and you see them plowing and shoveling at age 90. Any wrinkling is due to an overdose of SUNLIGHT.

Modern man's body is wrinkled without sun, a graveyard of sorrow produced by creatures who suffered, whose bodies are full of fright hormones. It is partly meat-induced depression which drives some of us to seek mood-changers like alcohol, sugar, cokes, coffee, cocaine and other drugs.

Many modern people live with panic, anxiety and depression and accept this condition as normal.

Luckily, the human body 'accepts' non-animal source protein (SUNSHINE PROTEINS, I call them, maybe missing some of the amino acids) but metabolized as protein quite happily if partial amino foods are carefully combined.)

Beans do not have all the amino acids, but add organic, non-preservative containing corn tortillas and they do. Vegetables don't have all the amino acids, but add 1-tsp. butter and they do. (The bible on this kind of eating is "Diet for a Small Planet" by Frances Moore Lappe, available from Ballantine Books "Friends of the Earth" series, or by request, at your local library. Lappe points out that vegetarian diets conserve planetary resources and those vegetarian proteins are user-friendly at both ends. At source, they do not deplete the land the way cattle do. (You feed a cow ten thousand pounds of grains which could feed a thousand people, and end up with protein for only 50 people, hence the cow is not a feasible protein machine for the Malthusian, crowded, 21st century.)

Vegie proteins are user-friendly at the consumption end as they promote totally toxin-free eating hence health and rejuvenation, a life free of doctors, hospitals, HMO's and impoverished children due to the government repo-ing your house to pay for your old age home bills at 5$ an aspirin, $2,000 a week! An absolute horror story!

You perhaps suspected that eating flesh had a toxic as well as economic downside. Well, you have only to smell the stuff as it passes from your body 12 hours later, as compared to a tofu burger or quinoa casserole which smells the same going in and going out.

There is ROT in flesh foods and your body is forced to 'inhale' that rot from the colon (where absorption takes place,) just when the mixture is at its most pernicious! Does that seem logical to you? Why put sewer sludge in our bodies? Go figure!

THE DIET; SO WHAT DO I EAT? The answer: HUGE GREEN SALADS and weeds cooked in broth, (EDIBLE WEED LIST IMPORTANT, GOOGLE THIS.) Low carb-Whole grains combined with raw nuts, perhaps garnished with grated cheese in miniscule amounts. You eat sprouted seeds, tofu, low-starch vegetables, and between meals, fruits and once or twice a week, animal flesh. Actually a slice of cow's liver, lightly fried in onions would take care of your B-12 requirements once a month. Liver is a good protein to do once a month. BARELY fry it pink, as heat destroys its rich B complex.

A few times a week, raw, whole milk or milk products eaten alone. For a treat, make homemade yogurt and dispatch at the same rate you used to enjoy ice cream. But combine with raw, sliced, honeyed fruits.

All of the above foods are storage receptacles for solar energy and fountains of mysterious vital curative powers or vitamins that meat and processed foods cannot offer, so your powers increase as you get older.

If you want to try a food with a real kick, drink RAW JUICES. With a 30$ juicer available at any discount store, let's add raw juiced celery, carrots, parsley, beet, and to heal the pancreas, add fennel, Jerusalem artichoke, Brussels sprout in small quantities as there are certain medicinal properties in food, just as there are in herbs.

WILL I LIKE EATING THIS WAY? It will be the adventure of your lifetime and make you famous to boot. Your Vegie Burger will be the succulent centerpiece at community feasts. Your sandwich spread, made of sesame and garbanzo, (called 'hummous' in the Middle East), will be tasty, thrilling and make you the talk of the town. Your party meals of savory, nut dips, egg salad made of tofu that tastes better than the 'real' thing, vegie casseroles served with green salads will make your pals swoon.

You will start a food co-op, a baking circle, a vegie social club and common garden and through all these fun, new activities meet other higher minded, high-energy people.

Plus, these foods require less trips to the grocery, (more to your beautiful garden), and can be stored easily and sprouted, unfrozen at time of need. They are all 'from scratch' hence less costly than supermarket food. No more expensive FAST FOOD or restaurant food. Save your money to buy a farm in the country for weekends.

Now, everything you eat will be made at home from scratch, which becomes a family project, a talent and enterprise that creates pride.

WHAT HERBS AND VITAMINS DO I NEED?To heal an over-insulinating pancreas, a sugar addict, or convert an alcoholic to sobriety, you'll require quite a few supplements and they aren't things available at drug stores. They have neither the full spectrum of available products, and what they have isn't of good enough quality.

You must go to the healthfood store to get mixtures of chromium, Mega-B Complex, particularly pantothenic acid and B6, Zinc, Vitamin C, ALL the minerals (Magnesium, Potassium, Zinc, and Boron) which you get in a HIGH-MIN mix at healthfood store. Get the amino acid L-Glutamine. Get Kelp or bladderwrack, Vitamin E, Brewer's Yeast, Algae, spirulina or blue green brand. All of these are blood sugar factors.

Additional treatment for the PANCREAS: Castor oil pack. Heat oil, put on fabric, lay over pancreas which is just beneath sternum bone, slightly to the right, in that depression that is the solar plexus. Put hot water bottle over it. Watch t.v. For an hour.

MAGIC FOR THE PANCREAS-Eat Jerusalem artichokes, called sunchokes, and as much blueberries as you can find. Power food additives like seaweed, dandelion, garlic, and onion are also incorporated into soups, salads or savory vegie dishes. See CURE DIABETES OR PREVENT IT

With meals, take all the HOME GROWN WEEDS & the Herbs mentioned in above ^ article in doses recommended on the bottle: Golden seal, juniper berries, uva ursi leaves, huckleberry leaves, mullein leaves, comfrey root, yarrow flowers, garlic bulb, cayenne, dandelion root, marshmallow root, buchu leaves, bistort root, licorice root.

If you've been on a junkfood diet high in sugar, have used coke of either legal or illegal brand, or have used caffeine, you'll need to rejuvenate the adrenals as well: licorice, safflower flowers, dandelion root, horseradish, Hawthorne, Juniper cedar berries, Mexican wild yam, and Mexican Copalquin. You can get them directly from the herb suppliers by looking at ads in New Age or vegetarian magazines.

We used to be able to use Adrenal complex, made of freeze-dried cow adrenals but in this era of Mad Cow, until we're certain it's not in U.S cows, stick to tried and true herbs unless you like to play Russian Roulette.

Next, to sleep longer and counter-effect stress which ruins the pancreas most of all, liquid melatonin (not from cow brains, the synthetic one) along with soporific herbs: passionflower, skullcap, chamomile, hops, valerian brewed (not simmered) into herb tea, sipped several hours before bedtime to make us sleepy earlier. Leave another cup by the bed to sip if you wake before your full, eight hours, along with a nibble-sized piece of cheese.

To squelch desire for alcohol, Tyrosine, L-Phenylamine and L-Glutamine are taken on an empty stomach. Another tip is to make a drink that ferments. Any protein combined with raw fruit will ferment due to enzyme action. Milk with pineapple slices, frapped. Banana and yogurt.

To cure the damage alcohol has done to you, spinach salad is recommended. Last, whenever a mood lift is required, take out your favorite cologne or flower oil, or Bach flower remedy and give yourself a non-alcoholic, joyous, mood lift. It works! Make your own flower remedies. Wash flowers, put into spring water in a bowl. Leave for a day. Then drink the water! "I'm high on gardenias today, you?"

The fun, the friends, the intellectual kick isn't the only kick you're going to get. The first day you eat this way you are going to feel l8 again. That's the payoff. So, find a healthfood store, read its magazines, Dr. Paavo Airola's "HYPOGLYCEMIA, A Better Approach," Dr. Jensen's books "You are all Sanpaku" and "Sugar Blues", by William Dufty and Dr. Donsbach's booklet "Everything you Always wanted to know about Alcohol."

HOW TO TAKE THESE FOODS FOR OPTIMUM ASSIMILATION

MORNING: Tyrosine and L-Phenylelamine in Morning. L-glutamine first, others taken with no protein in stomach. Take with herb tea or juice.

BREAKFAST-Muddy Mary (tomato, vegie juice, lemon, dash cayenne and soy,) or FRUIT SLUSH (all raw, with low sugar fruits like cherries) and Multi vits to start, then, 1/2 hour later after fruit has passed out of stomach, have your PROTEIN: low-starch hashed browns (tofu grated w. small amt. Potato, fried in oil) with an omelet. Huevos Rancheros, (Beans and Corn Tortillas with eye eggs, salsa). Occasionally a STARCH meal of BIBLE BREAD, made from soaked grains, triterated into dough, BUCKWHEAT flour, PANCAKES made with yogurt, milk, eggs, doused with real raw honey or real maple syrup, or old-fashioned rolled oats (never instant) with cinnamon and maple and real cream. INSTEAD OF COFFEE, AFTER BREAKFAST take gentle stimulants like licorice, seaweed (kelp, bladderwrack) gingko bilboa.

LUNCH-Huge raw, green salad some raw spinach in it, magic for 'drinkers' with protein via sprouts, sunflower seeds, avocado. Small amount of high-starch Brown rice or a larger amount of high protein, low-starch millet. Preferable is millet, low-starch barley or whole grain rye, black beans or kidney, not starchy pinto. After every meal, 25 mg Niacin, increasing every day up to 100. B-Complex with meals. Restore Adrenal function through DHEA, licorice root, ginseng, fo ti tieng, gota kola, raw adrenal concentrate or extract. Pantothenic acid. Shun caffeine. Keep alert after midday meal by LYING DOWN for 11 minutes. And take another ginkgo bilboa tablet.

DINNER-Protein and low-starch vegies, large, raw spinach salad, which has anti alcohol magic. Low-carb baked apple dessert. Spirulina, Vit B, Niacin. BEDTIME: To soothe nerves, soothing herb tea of valerian, hops, skullcap, passionflower, Cal/Mag with codliver oil. Melatonin to sleep. 1 capsule of Herbal laxative as soporifics may slow intestinal tract down.

WITH MEALS TO BUILD BLOOD: Supplements from healthfood store: Micro algaes, liquid chlorophyll, spirulina, barleygreen, Kelp capsules. Kava Kava as a euphoric coffee substitute, and try liver cleansing through Yogi Teas' or kambucha tea. Cheaper are homemade raw vegetable juices: celery, carrots, wheatgrass, watercress, spinach, beets, tomato. I recently bought a Hamilton Beach Juicer for 29$ at Wal-Mart.

BEDTIME-Licorice root extract or home made licorice root tea if you can buy the root from health magazines, mail order. Suppresses hunger so you sleep deeper. A more organic pancreas soother is FENNEL, a green plant like celery, licorice flavored, as broth or salad. FINNOCHIO the Italians call it. Grow it, as it's costly.
