The Sheridan Douglas Tarot
The Sheridan Douglas Tarot was first published by Alfred Douglas and his wife, Jo Sheridan in 1972. The deck was based on 78 illustrations of the Tarot images, designed by David Sheridan to illustrate the book by Alfred Douglas, The Tarot: the origins, meaning and uses of the cards. The Sheridan Douglas cards quickly became sought-after and sold well for a decade before finally going out of print. Since the early '80s the deck has been unavailable, and its reputation as a "legendary pack" (to quote the words of the proprietor of a celebrated occult bookshop in central London) has grown steadily. Today, demand from collectors is such that samples of the original 1970s deck have changed hands for as much as $450. In 2005 it became clear that the time was ripe to republish our deck, taking advantage of the latest technology to revitalise the original artwork and restore its glowing colours.
We have now republished The Tarot: the origins, meaning and uses of the cards by Alfred Douglas, illustrated by David Sheridan. This classic book can now be yours after being unavailable for more than a decade. "It is the most objective, direct and clearly written book to date on the complex subject of the Tarot." says  the authoritative Library Journal. And that sums up the continuing appeal of The Tarot: the origins, meaning and uses of the cards by Alfred Douglas. This classic study of the Tarot examines all aspects of the subject - origins, history, symbolism, meanings of all 78 cards, techniques of divination - including details of how to play the ancient game of Tarocco.

The mystery behind the original meaning and purpose of these cards is even now not fully understood, and the puzzle offered to us by their elaborate and beautiful images never completely resolved.

The Tarot, the author tells us, is more than a fortune-telling device or a card game. It is a profound guide to the journey of life, with parallels found in the ancient Mysteries, Gnostic religions, and the writings of C.G. Jung. This book was probably the first (1972) to discuss the parallels between the imagery of the tarot major arcana and Jung's 'process of individuation' - the process of psychic development leading to increasing wholeness over the course of a human life.

Alfred Douglas explains how each card can be interpreted at several levels and reveals how, as the mind explores the Tarot images, it can uncover meanings and significance. The Tarot speaks in the language of symbols, the language of the unconscious, and it can open doors into the hidden reaches of the soul, linking the world of humankind with the world of the spirit.

Alfred Douglas's illuminating text is superbly illustrated by David Sheridan's original drawings, plus photographs of rare and historic tarot cards from the British Museum. 256 pages

Answer. As a new age tarot reader, I am rendered practically speechless when I think of HOW VERY MUCH it did for me. (this is Anita Sands talking so I'm not all THAT speechless!) The Tarot CHANGED MY LIFE! First week I had the deck, I got hired by MAX FACTOR COSMETICS INC. giving readings in department stores for gals who bought Factor products. That was the most fun you can have without eating chocolate. All the lines' cosmetic girls traded samples for readings. Downtown LA MAGNINS was posh to die! I LOVED IT! But there's more. I do astrology horoscopes and read palms also, I throw the 3 twelve sided astro dice, all give me fairly quick and accurate readings on any issue -- but the  Tarot Deck has a magnificence, a presence, so that when I take it out of its velvet bag and start to shuffle, clients or party guests feel it too. There is stunned awe, absolute attention. As we turn over each card, there is a tingling anticipation in the room. Each card's meaning is interpreted by consulting the book which you are going to get.

If you have groups, clubs and lots of parties & want to network your way to new friends.. if you want to get paid clients, or if you simply want to entertain at a party and walk away with dozens of new, admiring friends -- just buy the deck and the tutorial book both. I take no share of the profits. You send the dollars straight to Jo Sheridan and Alfred Douglas in Sussex, Rye, via PAYPAL.  But let me tell you what else this will do for your life besides make you the LIFE OF THE PARTY with everyone begging for readings. Networking your way through the city like a hot knife through butter. It is this: Your children will watch you read, and one day you will leave the magic deck to them, --when you are old. It will become a family legacy, down through generations to come... people who haven't even been born yet. This is simply an incredible addition to all their lives. I already have the decks in California so it's real fast in the mail. Here's how the publisher ..a good friend ...and I started

Here's me and ALFRED  DOUGLAS talking: Anita: the pound has been strong against the dollar so they haven't been selling well. However, the pound is now weaker so the price looks better. Would you like to try selling a few on the West Coast? I remember we discussed this a couple of years ago, but nothing came of it at the time. Here is what I suggest:

I can send you a box of 10 decks by surface mail which will take about 8 weeks to reach you - (THEY GOT HERE ALREADY) that minimises postage costs to the person who buys.(HAPPY SITUATION, no?) UPDATE:  HE SENT THE 10 SETS SO I HAVE THEM HERE IN CALIFORNIA NOW.

We can give you the same trade discount as we give Occult Bookshops, which means that decks will cost you 15$ in US dollars --that's below price other decks sell for in L.A. today.

If you'd like to sell my Tarot book as well, I can let you have that for 10$ each The US price printed on the back cover is 18.95 dollars so your client pays about half the usual  price. "

OK GANG. I have the ten decks and ten books, and you are in line. Only ten of you are going to make the final cut for this REDUCED, STATESIDE PRICE at this time! When I sell out, we will do it again. The money goes directly to Alfred via PAYPAL -- I'm not taking anything off the top. I'll weigh it at post office, media rate, get a roughly 5$ price for shipping.
